Google Voice Search now supports Hindi

After bringing support for Indian accents in English language and Maps in Hindi, Google has silently started rolling-out support for Hindi in Voice Search on Android.  We just noticed the presence of Hindi in Voice search languages on Android and it seems to be working quite nicely but given the lack of adequete Hindi search results, sometime it falters in providing relevant information.

To use Hindi as the voice-search language, all you have to do is go to Google Settings on your Android phone, select Search and Now > Voice > Language and select Hindi (Bharat).  The functionality is still limited to just understanding your Hindi input and then giving search results, the speech output is still in English and there is no “Ok Google” hotword support for Hindi users.
If you don’t see Hindi language option on your Android phone, it will probably arrive in the next couple of weeks.
This is a big development from Google for Indic language support and it was first hinted by the search giant at the press event for Indian accept support announcement.

Specs include a 1.7 GHz octa-core Mediatek processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, 13MP/5MP cameras, a 5.7-inch 1080p display and Android 4.4.

Sony SmartWatch 3 coming to IFA

Sony SmartWatch 3 coming to IFA

IFA is where it’s all happening this summer, and it seems Sony will be among the manufacturers to announce exciting new products. New rumors state Sony is getting ready to unveil the SmartWatch 3. It should use Sony’s own platform, which is based on Android (not Android Wear).
Opinion: Specs and features are unknown, but we can expect some fun changes to come. After all, the second iteration was a very good upgrade over the first SmartWatch.

HTC One E8 coming to Sprint

HTC One E8 coming to Sprint

The HTC One E8 seems to be headed towards Sprint, news that was unveiled by the unexpected release of a video on the carrier’s YouTube page. The video touts the device and all its goodies, giving you a good overview of what the One M8′s brother can do.

The One E8 is a device nearly identical to the One M8 in terms of internals, but the manufacturer has opted for a plastic body. In turn, this makes the device more affordable. Some even prefer the soft touch it offers, as the One M8 is known for being too slippery.
Opinion: Of course, the biggest factor here is price. Will the HTC One E8 be cheap enough for users to be swayed away from the almighty HTC One M8?

Yahoo acquires ClarityRay

Yahoo acquires ClarityRay

Facebook is not the only one shopping around; Yahoo has also acquired ClarityRay. This company launched as a provider of tools for publishers to evade ad-blockers. The company has since changed directions, though. They now focus on ad security and fraud detection.
Opinion: They strive to make a more secure internet, a goal all major tech companies should have in mind. We are not sure how, exactly, they will be helping Yahoo, but this is an opportunity that will allow them to expand in massive proportions.

Facebook acquires LiveRail

Facebook acquires LiveRail

Advertising is the foundation of Facebook’s business. The company can no longer survive without it, and there is always a way to improve the system. The latest Facebook acquisition involved a startup named LiveRail, and it costed the social network $400 to $500 million.
LiveRail works with companies to promote video adds across multiple publishers. This could prove to be an asset to Facebook, especially as they focus on more video advertising.

Opinion: I must say Facebook advertising is not the nicest. It can be down right annoying at times, so maybe this acquisition could make it a little better for both Facebook and its users.

Bill Gates wins the Ice Bucket Challenge

Bill Gates wins the Ice Bucket Challenge

There is only so much Ice Bucket Challenge coverage we can report. I was about to stop posting these, but the last one is a bit hard to ignore.
Bill Gates, one of the pioneers of modern computing, is not known for keeping things ordinary. The Ice Bucket Challenge was no exception, as he decided to take it to the next level after being challenged by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Bill Gates went ahead and created a mechanism for dumping iced water buckets with style.

Opinion: Not only was his technique and mechanism much better, but the video seems much more polished, overall. I must say it’s among the best.

New Moto X+1 photos leak

New Moto X+1 photos leak

The Moto X+1 (or whatever it may be named) is said to be announced during Motorola’s September 4th event. New leaked photos claim to showcase what could be the device’s front panel. It seems to go parallel with previous rumors. The unit is a bit larger than the previous Moto X and seems to feature dual front-facing speakers.

The BoomSound-like speakers are a great addition, and we have seen it in previous rumors. There is something a bit different about this leak, though. The display panel seems to have larger cut-outs for its speakers. This could mean Motorola is opting for a bigger, better set of speakers?
Opinion: Don’t forget to take all this information with a grain of salt. The announcement is coming, making this wait shorter and sorter every day.

Moto X+1 specs leaked in benchmark

Rumors are a bit conflicting most times, but the latest leak seems to be pretty on par with previously seen specs. These specs showed up in a GFXBench benchmark. If this information is to be believed, the upcoming smartphone will be no small contender.
The benchmarks shows a smartphone with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a 2.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 12 MP rear-facing camera and a 2 MP front-facing camera. This would all be powered by Android 4.4.4, the latest and greatest software from Google.
