Details have been announced of the Xiaomi Redmi 2A smartphone, which will launch in China at 599 yuan (US $99).
Very much the budget range, the latest Redmi is the result of Xiaomi purchasing Leadcore, a producer of cheap processors that let them cut out previous parters Mediatek.
Redmi 2A runs on a quad-core Leadcore L1860C processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It has 4X Cortex A7 cores and a Mali T628MP2 GPU.
It offers LTE connectivity, has 1GB of RAM and 8GB storage.
There’s an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facer, and the battery is a 2200mAh model.
